Job Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect will design, develop, and implement scalable cloud architectures for IBM’s enterprise clients in Malawi and the broader Southern African region. Working closely with sales, engineering, and consulting teams, the architect will translate business requirements into robust, secure, and cost‑effective cloud solutions on platforms such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The role involves leading technical workshops, creating reference architectures, and ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to assess business needs and define cloud strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Design end‑to‑end cloud solutions, including infrastructure, platform, and software services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Develop detailed architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and migration roadmaps.
- Lead proof‑of‑concepts and pilot projects to validate solution designs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and consultants.
- Work with IBM’s global cloud teams to integrate best practices and leverage emerging technologies.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards such as ISO 27001 and GDPR.
- Participate in pre‑sales activities, including proposal development and client presentations.
- Continuously monitor cloud performance and recommend optimization strategies.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, webinars, and internal forums.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and services.
- Strong understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
- Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Certification such as IBM Certified Solution Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar is preferred.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized cloud certifications are highly valued and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing cloud solutions for enterprise clients. Prior experience in consulting or professional services environments, especially within the African market, will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise. The package includes performance‑based incentives and a comprehensive benefits suite.
