Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team in Nkhata Bay, Malawi. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in geophysics, providing data and expertise to support decision-making, and engaging with stakeholders to inform policy and decision-making.

The Geophysics Research Scientist will work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to conduct research in geophysics, including seismic surveys, gravity surveys, and magnetic surveys. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing data and expertise to support decision-making, including the development of geological models and the interpretation of geophysical data.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Geophysics Research Scientist who is passionate about geophysics and has a strong track record of research and publication. The successful candidate will be a team player who is able to work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to achieve our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in geophysics, including seismic surveys, gravity surveys, and magnetic surveys.
  • Provide data and expertise to support decision-making, including the development of geological models and the interpretation of geophysical data.
  • Engage with stakeholders to inform policy and decision-making, including government agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to achieve our mission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of our research strategy and plans.
  • Contribute to the development of our publications and reports.
  • Represent the BGS at conferences and meetings.
  • Required Skills
  • Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in geophysics research and publication.
  • Strong track record of research and publication in geophysics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to achieve our mission.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of our research strategy and plans.
