Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and highly analytical Quality Control Chemist to join our production facility in Mzuzu. This role is critical to our manufacturing success, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods adhere to our strict chemical and physical specifications. The successful candidate will perform complex laboratory analyses, monitor production consistency, and ensure compliance with both local and international regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine chemical and physical testing on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods.
  • Conduct stability testing and shelf-life studies to ensure product integrity over time.
  • Document all laboratory results accurately in the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Investigate deviations in product quality and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure precision and accuracy in all tests.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and local regulatory requirements for consumer goods.
  • Collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes through chemical analysis.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and mathematical accuracy.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Education

A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline is mandatory. Post-graduate qualifications in analytical chemistry are highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a quality control laboratory, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or pharmaceutical industry. Proven experience in troubleshooting manufacturing deviations is essential.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a competitive package designed to attract the best talent in the region.
