Job Overview

The Education Policy Analyst will support the Policy and Research department by conducting comprehensive analyses of existing education frameworks, identifying gaps, and proposing actionable recommendations. The role involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, NGOs, and donor agencies to develop policy briefs, impact assessments, and strategic plans that address challenges such as access, quality, and relevance of education. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous policy analysis on primary, secondary, and tertiary education sectors.
  • Develop evidence‑based policy briefs, white papers, and strategic recommendations.
  • Coordinate stakeholder consultations, workshops, and round‑table discussions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of education reforms and programs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for government officials, donors, and international partners.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of global education trends and best practices.
  • Support the development of data collection tools and dashboards for education indicators.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Chichewa is an advantage.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear policy recommendations.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R) and data visualization tools.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and facilitation abilities.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and timeline management.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education Policy, Public Policy, International Development, Economics, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in monitoring and evaluation are highly regarded.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in education policy analysis, research, or program implementation, preferably within a government, UN agency, or reputable NGO setting. Experience working in Malawi or the Southern African region is a strong plus.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is paid monthly and includes statutory benefits as per Malawian labor law.
