Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Reservoir Engineer to join our technical team in Blantyre. This role is critical to our exploration and production strategy, focusing on maximizing the recovery of hydrocarbons from complex reservoirs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex numerical reservoir models to simulate fluid flow and pressure behavior.
- Perform volumetric calculations and uncertainty analysis to estimate recoverable reserves.
- Optimize well completion and production strategies to maximize recovery factors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate seismic and well log data into reservoir models.
- Monitor field performance and recommend interventions for underperforming wells.
- Evaluate potential new drilling locations based on reservoir characteristics and economic viability.
Required Skills
- Expertise in reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse or Petrel.
- Advanced understanding of fluid thermodynamics and rock mechanics.
- Strong mathematical modeling and statistical analysis capabilities.
- Excellent technical reporting and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects in a high-pressure environment.
Education
A Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a closely related Earth Science discipline is mandatory. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of direct experience in reservoir engineering, preferably within an upstream oil and gas environment. Proven track record in managing large-scale reservoir simulation projects is essential for this vacancy in Malawi.
Salary
