Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Senior Facilities Manager to oversee the comprehensive operations of our flagship commercial properties in Blantyre. This critical role involves managing all aspects of building maintenance, security, vendor relationships, and space optimization to ensure a seamless experience for all tenants. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing preventative maintenance programs, managing large-scale renovation projects, and ensuring strict compliance with health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive facility management strategies to optimize building performance and tenant satisfaction.
• Manage and supervise third-party service providers, including cleaning, security, and landscaping contractors.
• Oversee the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to prevent downtime.
• Manage the annual facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and resource allocation.
• Coordinate large-scale facility upgrades and structural renovation projects from inception to completion.
• Ensure all building operations comply with local environmental, health, and safety laws.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and rectify potential maintenance issues before they escalate.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in facility management software and building automation systems.
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and cost-benefit analysis.
• Exceptional project management capabilities with a track record of successful renovations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing vendor contracts and tenant relations.
• In-depth knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations in Malawi.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field is mandatory. Professional certifications such as IFMA (International Facility Management Association) or similar credentials are highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in facility management, preferably within the commercial real estate or large-scale hospitality sectors. Proven experience in managing multi-site operations and large budgets is essential.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s experience and technical qualifications.
