Job Overview

The Senior Climate Change Analyst will lead the development and implementation of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies for WWF Malawi. This role involves conducting rigorous climate data analysis, shaping policy recommendations, and engaging stakeholders across the public and private sectors. The analyst will work closely with the Climate Change and Policy department to integrate scientific findings into actionable programs that support Malawi’s national climate commitments and the broader Sustainable Development Goals. Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive climate vulnerability assessments for key sectors such as agriculture, water resources, and energy.
• Develop evidence‑based policy briefs and advocacy materials for government ministries, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Design and monitor climate adaptation projects, ensuring alignment with WWF’s strategic objectives and donor requirements.
• Collaborate with research institutions to produce peer‑reviewed publications and technical reports.
• Represent WWF Malawi at national and regional climate forums, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.
• Mentor junior analysts and build capacity within the Climate Change and Policy team.

Required Skills

• Advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, including proficiency in climate modeling tools (e.g., R, Python, GIS).
• Strong understanding of international climate frameworks such as the Paris Agreement, NDCs, and the UNFCCC process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience drafting policy documents and scientific papers.
• Proven track record of stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
• Ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.

Education

A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, Geography, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or additional certifications in climate policy or sustainable development are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in climate change analysis, policy development, or related research roles. Experience working within NGOs, international development agencies, or government ministries in Malawi or the broader Southern African region is preferred.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The compensation package includes performance‑based incentives and comprehensive benefits.
