Job Overview

The Senior Wind Turbine Maintenance Engineer will lead the maintenance strategy for GE’s wind farms in Malawi, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of turbine assets. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance plans for wind turbine fleets, including preventive, predictive, and corrective actions.
• Lead a team of field technicians, providing technical guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Analyze turbine performance data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and opportunities for reliability improvements.
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of spare parts and critical components.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting risk assessments and safety drills.
• Collaborate with GE’s global engineering centers to implement design upgrades and retrofit projects.
• Prepare detailed maintenance reports, cost analyses, and KPI dashboards for senior management.
• Manage contractor relationships and oversee third‑party service agreements.
• Support commissioning of new turbine installations and provide technical expertise during site acceptance testing.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of wind turbine mechanical and electrical systems, including gearboxes, generators, and control systems.
• Proficiency with condition monitoring tools, SCADA systems, and reliability‑centered maintenance software.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Wind Energy Technician (WET) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of hands‑on experience in wind turbine maintenance, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or lead engineering role. Experience with GE turbine platforms is a strong advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive plans are also part of the compensation package.
