Job Overview

The Environmental Compliance Manager will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental policies and procedures across all Tullow Oil Malawi operations. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the manager will ensure that all activities comply with local regulations, international standards, and company commitments to sustainability. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update environmental compliance policies to align with Malawian legislation and international best practices.
• Conduct regular environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and ensure timely submission to regulatory bodies.
• Monitor and report on key environmental performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
• Lead internal and external audits, addressing non‑conformities and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operational teams on environmental best practices.
• Engage with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies to foster transparent communication and address environmental concerns.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure data integrity for all compliance activities.
• Support the preparation of sustainability reports and contribute to corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Malawian environmental laws, mining regulations, and international standards such as ISO 14001.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline is required. Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the mining, oil, or gas sectors. Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
