Job Overview

The Digital Asset Management Specialist will lead the development and execution of Mastercard’s digital asset strategies in Malawi, focusing on secure, scalable, and compliant solutions for digital payments, cryptocurrencies, and tokenized assets. This role will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and optimize digital asset platforms, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and Mastercard’s global security protocols. The specialist will also engage with local partners, fintech startups, and government agencies to promote adoption and drive innovation in the financial ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end‑to‑end digital asset management solutions, including wallets, tokenization, and blockchain integration.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including AML, KYC, and data protection laws.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and risk teams to develop secure, user‑friendly digital payment experiences.
  • Lead pilot projects and proof‑of‑concept initiatives with local fintech partners and merchants.
  • Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to inform product strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures for digital asset operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and tokenization technologies.
  • Experience with digital wallet architecture, API integration, and payment gateways.
  • Proficiency in security best practices, cryptographic protocols, and risk management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote island environment.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in blockchain, fintech, or cybersecurity are a plus.

Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in digital asset management, fintech product development, or related roles, with a proven track record of delivering secure, scalable solutions.

Salary

SSP 2,500,000 – SSP 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
