Provide immediate care to mothers after delivery. 7. Assess, resuscitate, and provide essential care to newborns. 8. Promote and support early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding. 9. Monitor mothers and newborns during the postnatal period and identify complications. 10. Provide family planning counseling and contraceptive services. 11. Educate women and families on maternal, newborn, and reproductive health. 12. Screen for and manage common pregnancy-related conditions and infections. 13. Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as prescribed. 14. Maintain accurate maternity and newborn records and documentation. 15. Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care. 16. Promote infection prevention and control in maternity and neonatal units. 17. Participate in maternal and perinatal death reviews and quality improvement initiatives. 18. Support women emotionally throughout pregnancy, labour, delivery, and the postpartum period. 19. Advocate for respectful, woman-centered maternity care. 20. Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, student nurses, and student midwives where appropriate.
