The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) is a Government-owned enterprise established under the Companies Act of 1984 on 10 December 2010. The company began operations in 2012 with a mandate to ensure fuel supply security in Malawi.

NOCMA plays a critical role in petroleum product importation, fuel distribution, and strategic fuel reserve management, operating key depots in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Chilumba, Chipoka, and Mchinji.

Job Purpose

The Operations Officer – Distribution will oversee petroleum distribution operations, ensuring efficient order processing, depot coordination, and timely delivery of fuel to customers. This role is central to maintaining supply chain efficiency in the oil and gas industry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process customer fuel orders using ERP systems like SAP
  • Coordinate with fuel depots for truck loading and dispatch scheduling
  • Monitor fuel distribution and delivery timelines
  • Prepare detailed distribution and logistics reports
  • Oversee fuel receipt, verification, and inventory control
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
  • Supervise distribution staff and operations assistants
  • Identify and resolve logistics and supply chain challenges
  • Support continuous improvement in fuel distribution processes

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Senior Operations Officer – Distribution
  • Supervises: Assistant Operations Officer – Distribution

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong logistics planning and supply chain coordination skills
  • Effective team supervision and performance management
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of petroleum distribution systems and depot operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Logistics & Supply Chain Management
    • Business Administration / Management
    • Or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of work experience in logistics or distribution
  • At least 3 years in a similar operations role
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Membership in a professional logistics or supply chain body is an advantage
