Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all manufacturing processes and finished products meet Unilever’s rigorous quality standards and comply with local regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve quality management systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and Unilever standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of production lines, laboratories, and supplier facilities.
  • Analyze product samples, perform microbiological and chemical testing, and interpret results.
  • Identify non‑conformities, initiate root‑cause investigations, and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless product launches.
  • Prepare detailed quality reports, dashboards, and documentation for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with Malawi’s Food and Drugs Act and other relevant regulations.
  • Train production staff on quality procedures, hygiene practices, and GMP standards.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, ISO standards, and GMP.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, SPSS) and data interpretation.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and validation protocols.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or ISO auditor training are highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in FMCG or food production. Experience with regulatory compliance in Malawi or similar markets is an advantage.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
