Job Overview

The Logistics Optimization Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing and continuously improving logistics strategies that align with corporate objectives and local market demands. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, analyze data-driven insights, and leverage advanced technologies to streamline transportation networks, warehouse operations and inventory management. The role demands a strategic mindset, strong analytical capabilities and hands‑on leadership to drive performance across the supply chain. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute logistics optimization strategies that reduce total landed cost by at least 10% within the first 12 months.
• Lead process mapping, bottleneck analysis and continuous improvement initiatives across transportation, warehousing and inventory functions.
• Implement advanced analytics tools and KPI dashboards to monitor performance, forecast demand and enhance decision‑making.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement and finance teams to align logistics plans with business objectives and customer service targets.
• Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs agents and local authorities to ensure timely and compliant movement of goods.
• Oversee the integration of digital platforms such as TMS (Transportation Management System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System) to improve visibility and control.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting cost savings, service improvements and risk mitigation measures.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing logistics team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar).
• In‑depth knowledge of logistics, supply chain design and transportation economics.
• Experience with TMS/WMS implementation and process automation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional projects and drive change in a fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with Malawi customs regulations, import/export procedures and local infrastructure challenges.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Chichewa is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM or PMP are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in logistics management, supply chain optimization or related roles, preferably within a multinational environment. Demonstrated success in leading cost‑reduction projects and implementing technology‑driven solutions is essential.

Salary

The annual compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions and other statutory benefits.
