Job Overview
The E-commerce Operations Manager will lead the end‑to‑end operational strategy for Jumia Malawi’s online platform. Reporting to the Country Head of Operations, the manager will oversee order fulfillment, inventory management, last‑mile delivery, and customer service excellence. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, capable of optimizing processes, managing cross‑functional teams, and ensuring that service level agreements are consistently met. The manager will collaborate closely with technology, marketing, finance, and vendor partners to drive growth, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall customer journey. This position is pivotal in scaling Jumia’s operations to meet increasing demand while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational policies and SOPs that align with Jumia’s global standards and local market needs.
- Manage the order lifecycle from receipt to delivery, ensuring on‑time fulfillment and accurate inventory tracking.
- Lead a team of warehouse supervisors, logistics coordinators, and customer support agents, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and introduce process enhancements to reduce order cycle time and operational costs.
- Coordinate with third‑party logistics providers and local courier services to optimize last‑mile delivery routes and improve delivery success rates.
- Oversee vendor onboarding, product listing quality, and inventory replenishment strategies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, delivery time, return rate, and customer satisfaction scores.
- Collaborate with the technology team to integrate automation tools, warehouse management systems, and data analytics platforms.
- Prepare regular operational reports for senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and Jumia’s internal audit requirements.
Required Skills

Education

Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in e‑commerce operations, preferably within a fast‑growing online marketplace or retail environment. Prior experience managing cross‑functional teams and leading large‑scale operational projects is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the total rewards structure.
