Job Overview

The Construction Project Controls Manager will lead the planning, cost control, and schedule management for large‑scale construction projects undertaken by LafargeHolcim Malawi. Reporting to the Head of Project Management Office, the role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The manager will collaborate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to develop robust control systems, monitor performance, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, ensuring alignment with contractual milestones.
  • Implement cost control procedures, track expenditures, and prepare variance analyses for each project.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to integrate scope changes and manage risk.
  • Produce regular performance reports, dashboards, and forecasts for senior management.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly and quarterly project control reviews, highlighting critical path issues and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with LafargeHolcim’s internal standards, industry best practices, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior project control staff and promote continuous improvement in control processes.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and cost management tools.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex information to diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience in multi‑disciplinary project environments.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction contracts, EPC contracts, and local construction regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or a recognized cost engineering qualification are highly desirable.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of progressive experience in construction project controls, preferably within the cement, concrete, or large‑scale infrastructure sectors. Experience in the African construction market and familiarity with local labor and material supply chains will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 2,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
