IRC Malawi is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sustainable Urban Planner to join our team in Nkhata Bay. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of sustainable urban planning strategies and projects that promote inclusive and resilient urban development in Malawi.
Job Overview
The Sustainable Urban Planner will be responsible for leading the development of sustainable urban planning strategies and projects that promote inclusive and resilient urban development in Malawi. This will involve working closely with local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify and address urban planning challenges and opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in urban planning, with experience in sustainable urban development, urban design, and community engagement. They will also have excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The Sustainable Urban Planner will be based in Nkhata Bay, Malawi, and will be responsible for leading a team of urban planners and engineers to develop and implement sustainable urban planning projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of sustainable urban planning strategies and projects that promote inclusive and resilient urban development in Malawi.
- Work closely with local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify and address urban planning challenges and opportunities.
- Develop and implement urban planning projects that promote sustainable and inclusive urban development.
- Manage and lead a team of urban planners and engineers to develop and implement sustainable urban planning projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify best practices in sustainable urban planning and development.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in sustainable urban planning, urban design, and community engagement.
- Strong background in urban planning, with experience in sustainable urban development, urban design, and community engagement.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.

Education

Salary
The salary for this position is 80,000 – 120,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
