Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Agronomy Research Scientist to lead our field research initiatives in Northern Malawi. This role is critical to our mission of optimizing crop productivity and developing resilient agricultural systems that can withstand changing climatic conditions. The successful candidate will design, implement, and manage complex field trials, analyze large datasets, and translate scientific findings into actionable recommendations for local farmers. This position requires a deep understanding of soil science, plant pathology, and crop genetics. You will work closely with our supply chain and sustainability teams to ensure that our agricultural practices align with both commercial goals and environmental conservation standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute large-scale field experiments to evaluate crop performance and soil health.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical software to determine the efficacy of new seed varieties and fertilizers.
- Develop sustainable crop management protocols to improve yield and reduce environmental impact.
- Collaborate with local extension services to disseminate research findings to smallholder farmers.
- Monitor pest and disease trends within the region to provide early warning signals.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports for senior management and international stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and data modeling software.
- Deep knowledge of tropical soil chemistry and plant physiology.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple field sites.

Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a closely related agricultural science discipline is required. A PhD is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of professional experience in agricultural research, preferably within a commercial or large-scale institutional setting. Proven experience in managing field trials and working with tropical crops is essential for success in this role.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
