Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team in Karonga, Malawi. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in geophysics, with a focus on the application of geophysical methods to understand the Earth’s subsurface.

The role will involve working closely with our team of researchers and scientists to design and implement geophysical surveys, collect and analyze data, and interpret results. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of new research ideas and projects, and to collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to advance our understanding of the Earth’s geology.

The position is based in Karonga, Malawi, and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to achieve our research goals.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement geophysical surveys to collect data on the Earth’s subsurface

Analyze and interpret geophysical data to understand the Earth’s geology

Contribute to the development of new research ideas and projects

Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to advance our understanding of the Earth’s geology

Write and publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals

Present research findings at conferences and workshops

Required Skills

Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field

Experience in geophysical research, including the design and implementation of geophysical surveys

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Fluency in English and Chichewa (or other local languages)

Education

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field, and will have a strong background in geophysical research, including the design and implementation of geophysical surveys.

The successful candidate will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills. Fluency in English and Chichewa (or other local languages) is also required.

Experience

We are seeking a highly experienced Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in geophysical research, including the design and implementation of geophysical surveys.

The successful candidate will also have a strong track record of publishing research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research findings at conferences and workshops.

Salary

The salary for this position is 50,000 – 70,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
