Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Treatment Engineer to lead complex water infrastructure projects in the Nsanje district. This role is critical for our mission to provide sustainable clean water solutions to communities facing extreme climate vulnerability. The successful candidate will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of water treatment systems, ranging from small-scale community boreholes to larger-scale filtration plants. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering specifications for community-based water treatment facilities.
• Supervise on-site construction and installation of water purification systems to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Conduct rigorous water quality testing and analysis to ensure all outputs meet WHO standards.
• Manage technical teams and external contractors during large-scale infrastructure deployments.
• Develop long-term maintenance schedules and training programs for local community water committees.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to align projects with national water management policies.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in hydraulic modeling and water system design software.
• Strong project management capabilities with experience in rural infrastructure development.
• In-depth knowledge of water chemistry and filtration technologies.
• Excellent technical reporting and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging environmental conditions.

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related technical field is mandatory. Professional certification or registration with a recognized engineering board is highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in water engineering, specifically within the non-profit or international development sector. Proven experience in managing large-scale rural water projects in Sub-Saharan Africa is a significant advantage. You should have a track record of successfully delivering complex engineering solutions in resource-constrained environments.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s technical expertise and previous experience in the sector.
