Job Overview
The Senior Credit Portfolio Analyst will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the bank’s credit portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze credit applications and existing loan portfolios to assess creditworthiness and risk exposure.
- Develop and maintain credit scoring models and risk rating systems.
- Prepare detailed credit reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure loan terms that balance client needs and risk considerations.
- Conduct sectoral and macro‑economic analysis to inform credit policy adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal credit policies.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of credit assessment processes.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling.
- Excellent knowledge of banking regulations, credit risk frameworks, and loan documentation.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with credit risk software (e.g., Moody’s Analytics, SAS) is a plus.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for interacting with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and problem‑solving mindset.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
Experience
Applicants should have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, or risk assessment within a banking or financial services environment. Experience in the Malawian market or similar emerging economies is highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and other incentives aligned with the bank’s profitability goals.
