Job Overview
The Network Infrastructure Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of critical network projects that expand and enhance Vodafone Malawi’s service footprint. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, resources, and risk mitigation strategies for network roll‑out initiatives.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams comprising engineers, procurement specialists, finance analysts, and field technicians to achieve project milestones.
- Manage vendor contracts, negotiate service level agreements, and monitor performance against agreed KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) standards and international best practices.
- Track project budgets, forecast expenditures, and provide regular financial reporting to senior management.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication, preparing status reports, presentations, and executive briefings.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, coordinating with design and integration teams to maintain network integrity.
- Implement post‑implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in managing large‑scale telecommunications infrastructure projects (e.g., fiber, microwave, LTE/5G).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing telecom operations in Malawi and the Southern African region.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or ITIL are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience managing end‑to‑end network infrastructure projects, preferably within a telecom operator or a major technology integrator. Experience with fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH), microwave backhaul, and mobile radio access network (RAN) deployments is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive annual salary ranging from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package are also part of the remuneration structure.
