Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data scientists and analysts to design, develop, and deploy machine learning models.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business units to translate business challenges into data solutions.
  • Define data strategy, governance, and best practices for data collection, storage, and processing.
  • Drive the creation of dashboards, visualizations, and reports for senior leadership.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI/ML technologies and integrate them into Microsoft’s offerings in Malawi.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in Python, R, SQL, and big data platforms (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Proven experience with cloud services, preferably Azure Machine Learning.
  • Strong statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and deep learning capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary data teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.

Education

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in data science, with at least three years in a leadership or managerial capacity. Demonstrated success in delivering large‑scale analytics projects in emerging markets is a plus.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may apply.
