I am excited to apply for the position of Youth Development Specialist as highlighted above. I strongly believe that I am a perfect fit for the job because I will bring ten years of work experience in youth development, education, or community engagement roles, including implementation of child protection, advocacy and family strengthening programs.
My education and professional background fit very well with the advertisement. I have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Malawi, the Malawi Polytechnic. This qualification lays befitting skills in designing and implementing youth-focused programs that promote education, leadership, and economic opportunities. Again, with the MBA, I will bring strong project management and cross-sector collaboration abilities, including proficiency in using data tools for program evaluation. In addition, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education. As such, I will bring sound knowledge of Malawi’s educational landscape and youth challenges. Moreover, I have a Diploma in Community Development. In this case, I have proven abilities in the engagement and influence of stakeholders to support program integration, ownership and scale-up.
In terms of work experience, I will bring ten years of demonstrated experience in the implementation of youth development, education, or community engagement programs. Initially, from 2nd March 2015 up to 31st March 2019, I was working with World Vision International as a Project Officer for Education & Life Skills in Salima District. Here, I made remarkable achievements in the implementation of youth development, education or community engagement initiatives. Further, from 28th October 2019 up to 20th April 2023, I was working as a Project Officer with Johns Hopkins Program for International Education on Gynaecology and Obstetrics (JHPIEGO), implementing a DREAMS project that targeted youths aged 10- 24. Here I championed in the facilitation of child protection and sexuality education sessions in the communities around Blantyre District. Thereafter, I spent another three years working as a Project Officer with DAPP implementing the same project of DREAMS in Blantyre District. Currently I am working for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) as an Education Specialist, implementing BeFIT Program in Kasungu District. In this regard, I look forward to hearing from you with respect to an interview.
Yours faithfully,
Ian M. Allan.
