Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of Google’s Blantyre data center, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of all infrastructure components. This includes overseeing hardware deployment, network configuration, power and cooling systems, and incident response. The manager will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—engineering, security, finance, and sustainability—to align operational practices with Google’s high standards for uptime, efficiency, and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily operations of the Blantyre data center, ensuring 99.99% uptime.

  • Develop and execute incident response and disaster recovery plans, coordinating with security and engineering teams.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance metrics for equipment suppliers and service providers.
  • Plan and forecast capacity needs, driving expansion projects to meet growing demand.
  • Implement and enforce compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and local regulations.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing coaching, performance reviews, and career development pathways.
  • Generate operational reports, KPI dashboards, and cost analyses for senior leadership.

Required Skills

Education

Experience
