About the Company

The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) is a government-owned entity established in 2010 and operational since 2012. It is mandated to ensure national fuel security through petroleum importation and the management of Strategic Fuel Reserves (SFRs) located in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Chilumba, Chipoka, and Mchinji.

Over the years, NOCMA has significantly expanded its operational footprint, strengthening Malawi’s energy security and increasing its fuel importation market share to approximately 77% in the 2025/2026 financial year.


Position Overview

Job Title: Electrical Technician (NOC07)
Code: ET2026
Location: Head Office, Lilongwe, Malawi
Job Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Manager

This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems across NOCMA facilities, including installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical equipment and infrastructure.


Purpose of the Role

To install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment across NOCMA facilities, ensuring uninterrupted operations, compliance with safety standards, and optimal system performance.


Key Responsibilities

Electrical Installation & Commissioning

  • Install electrical systems, machinery, motors, transformers, and switchgear
  • Ensure installations comply with technical drawings and safety standards
  • Commission new electrical equipment across facilities

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on electrical systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in machinery and infrastructure
  • Participate in emergency breakdown maintenance operations

Systems Operation

  • Operate electrical plants, switchgear, and control systems
  • Support safe operation of power distribution systems

Testing & Compliance

  • Test protection relays in coordination with ESCOM (Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi)
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, health, and quality standards
  • Support audits and inspections of electrical systems

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs
  • Document inspections and system performance records
  • Report faults and technical issues to supervisors

Educational Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Part II OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and industrial equipment
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics

Experience Requirements
