Job Overview
The Hydrometallurgical Process Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing the chemical extraction processes used to recover valuable metals from ore. This position is based at our advanced processing facility in Kasungu, where you will oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning circuits. This is a high-impact role that requires a deep understanding of chemical kinetics, mass balance, and fluid dynamics. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize hydrometallurgical flowsheets to maximize metal recovery rates.
- Monitor and control chemical reagent dosing and pH levels within the leaching circuits.
- Conduct detailed mass and energy balance calculations to identify process inefficiencies.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex metallurgical issues in the solvent extraction stage.
- Implement advanced process control strategies to stabilize plant performance.
- Collaborate with the environmental team to manage tailings and waste neutralization processes.
- Prepare technical reports on metallurgical performance and recovery trends.
- Overseat the commissioning of new chemical processing equipment and instrumentation.
Required Skills
- Expertise in hydrometallurgical processes including leaching, CIP/CIL, and electrowinning.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and process simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex chemical data.
- Advanced knowledge of fluid mechanics and chemical thermodynamics.

Education
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized international university. A Master’s degree in Mineral Processing or Process Engineering will be considered a significant advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale mineral processing plant is required. Proven experience specifically within hydrometallurgical circuits is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful process optimization and cost-reduction initiatives in a heavy industrial setting. Experience working in remote mining locations is highly desirable.
Salary
