Job Overview
The Lead Data Visualization Engineer will spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of interactive dashboards and visual analytics solutions that empower decision‑makers across Google Malawi and partner organizations. You will translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights using modern visualization tools and best practices. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, user experience, and business strategy, ensuring that data stories are compelling, accurate, and aligned with organizational goals.
In this position, you will collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to understand data requirements, define visualization standards, and implement scalable solutions that support both internal teams and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Design and build interactive dashboards using tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into visual solutions.
- Develop data pipelines and ensure data quality for accurate visualizations.
- Establish visualization standards, guidelines, and best practices across the organization.
- Mentor junior analysts and promote a data‑driven culture.
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of visual analytics applications.
- Stay updated on emerging visualization technologies and incorporate innovative approaches.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation.
- Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and lead projects from concept to delivery.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in data visualization or analytics are a plus.
Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or analytics engineering. Demonstrated track record of delivering enterprise‑scale dashboards and leading data‑driven initiatives.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and expertise. The package includes performance bonuses, stock options, and comprehensive benefits.
