Job Overview
Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join its healthcare team in Blantyre. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, assist physicians during medical procedures, and ensure that clinical standards and hospital protocols are followed.
The nurse will play a critical role in monitoring patient conditions, administering treatments, and supporting multidisciplinary teams across hospital departments including inpatient wards, emergency units, and outpatient clinics. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient safety and healthcare excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor patient vital signs and health conditions regularly.
Administer medications, injections, and IV therapy according to physician prescriptions.
Assist physicians during clinical examinations, procedures, and treatments.
Maintain accurate patient records and medical documentation.
Implement infection control procedures and hospital safety protocols.
Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families.
Participate in emergency care and trauma response activities.
Coordinate with healthcare teams to ensure effective patient care planning.
Supervise junior nursing staff and assist in clinical training programs.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and nursing ethical standards.
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Healthcare Sciences.
Valid professional license from the Malawi Nurses and Midwives Council.
3–5 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.
Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, patient care, and healthcare compliance.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and emergencies.
