Job Overview
The Senior Civil Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and oversight of major infrastructure projects in the Nsanje district. This role is critical for ensuring that all engineering works meet international standards of safety, durability, and environmental sustainability. You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, managing complex technical specifications, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. This is a high-impact position that requires a blend of advanced technical expertise and strategic project management skills.
As we continue hiring in Malawi, we are looking for an individual who can navigate the unique geographical and logistical challenges of the Nsanje region. The successful candidate will act as a technical authority, providing guidance to junior engineers and ensuring that all construction activities align with the project’s long-term objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and technical supervision of large-scale civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, and water management systems.
- Conduct detailed site assessments and feasibility studies to inform project planning and resource allocation.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Supervise on-site engineering teams and subcontractors to maintain high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Collaborate with government officials and stakeholders to ensure project alignment with local regulations and community needs.
- Perform rigorous quality control inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other industry-standard engineering software.
- Strong project management capabilities with experience in managing multi-million SSP budgets.
- In-depth knowledge of international civil engineering standards and local construction regulations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Critical problem-solving abilities to address complex technical and logistical challenges on-site.
Education
A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is mandatory. Professional registration with the relevant engineering board is highly preferred. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized certifications in Project Management will be given preference.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects from conception to completion. Experience working in challenging terrains or developing regions is a significant advantage. Candidates should demonstrate experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with various stakeholders.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 1,200,000 SSP to 1,800,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a competitive package designed to attract top-tier talent to our Nsanje operations.
