Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Metallurgical Process Engineer to lead our extraction optimization initiatives in Kasungu. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and managing complex metallurgical processes to maximize mineral recovery and optimize plant performance. The successful candidate will oversee large-scale processing circuits, manage technical teams, and drive continuous improvement through advanced data analysis and pilot testing. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize metallurgical flowsheets to enhance gold and copper recovery rates.
- Manage the daily technical performance of the mineral processing plant and flotation circuits.
- Lead metallurgical testing programs and pilot plant operations to validate new extraction methods.
- Conduct detailed mass and water balance calculations to ensure process stability.
- Collaborate with the mining and geology departments to optimize ore blending and feed consistency.
- Implement advanced process control systems to minimize reagent consumption and energy use.
- Oversee the troubleshooting of complex metallurgical issues and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy processes.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and process simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex chemical and physical data.

- Deep understanding of environmental compliance and tailings management.
Education
A Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A Bachelor’s degree alone will not be considered for this senior-level position.
Experience
A minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in mineral processing, specifically within large-scale gold mining operations. Proven track record in process optimization and leading technical engineering teams is essential.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 4,500,000 SSP to 7,500,000 SSP, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a highly competitive package within the Malawi employment market.
