Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Microfinance Credit Officer to join our growing team in Balaka. This role is critical to our mission of expanding financial inclusion in the southern region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of micro-loans, conducting rigorous credit assessments, and ensuring high repayment rates through proactive client relationship management. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit appraisals and risk assessments for micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses.
- Manage and monitor a high-volume loan portfolio to ensure minimal delinquency and high recovery rates.
- Provide financial advisory services and business training to clients to improve their repayment capacity.
- Perform regular field visits to verify business operations and collateral authenticity.
- Prepare detailed monthly credit reports and risk analysis summaries for management.
- Collaborate with the collections team to implement effective recovery strategies for non-performing loans.
- Mentor and supervise junior credit officers to maintain high standards of operational excellence.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in credit risk modeling and financial statement analysis.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills for effective client management.
- Deep knowledge of the microfinance regulatory framework in Malawi.

Education
Applicants must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. Professional certifications in credit management or risk assessment will be considered a significant advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in microfinance, commercial banking, or credit management is required. Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on experience, qualifications, and performance during the interview process.
