The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) is a Government-owned enterprise established in 2010 and operational since 2012. The company plays a key role in fuel supply security, petroleum importation, and strategic fuel reserve management in Malawi.

NOCMA manages Strategic Fuel Reserves (SFRs) across major locations including Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu, supporting national energy stability and economic growth.

Job Purpose

The Depot Supervisor will lead fuel depot operations and storage management, ensuring high standards in safety, compliance, inventory control, and operational efficiency. This role is essential in maintaining reliable fuel distribution systems within the oil and gas sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily fuel depot operations, storage, and distribution activities
  • Maintain accurate fuel inventory records and stock movement reports
  • Conduct inspections of tanks, pumps, valves, and depot infrastructure
  • Implement and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs
  • Plan and execute emergency response drills and safety procedures
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality compliance standards
  • Enforce health, safety, environmental (HSE) policies and risk assessments
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate depot staff and technical teams
  • Identify training and development needs for operational personnel
  • Support strategic goals set by the Depot Manager

  • Reports to: Depot Manager
  • Supervises:
    • Maintenance Technician
    • Depot Clerk
    • Electrical Technician
    • Senior Depot Operator
    • Office Assistant
    • Groundsman

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Expertise in fuel depot operations and logistics management
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of inventory control, asset maintenance, and safety compliance
  • Understanding of operational budgeting and financial management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering
    • Logistics & Supply Chain Management
    • Business Administration / Operations Management (technical focus)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in fuel depot or storage operations
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or similar role
