Job Overview

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the maintenance workshop, ensuring all heavy machinery is serviced, repaired, and maintained according to strict manufacturer standards. This role involves managing a team of skilled technicians, coordinating spare parts inventory, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of heavy equipment technicians and mechanics to ensure high-quality repair and maintenance work.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for a diverse fleet of earthmoving and construction machinery.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in heavy equipment.
  • Manage the workshop inventory, including spare parts, tools, and consumables, to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with strict safety and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare detailed maintenance reports and track equipment downtime and repair costs.
  • Coordinate with the logistics and site management teams to schedule maintenance without disrupting project timelines.

Required Skills

  • Advanced diagnostic skills in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required. Professional certifications in heavy equipment maintenance or fleet management are highly advantageous.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Proven experience working with large-scale construction or mining machinery is essential for success in this role.

Salary
