Job Overview
The Blockchain Solutions Engineer will design, develop, and implement blockchain-based applications for PwC’s financial technology clients. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will translate business requirements into secure, scalable distributed ledger solutions, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. This position offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects, mentor junior developers, and influence the firm’s technology roadmap. As a key member of the Technology & Innovation department, you will collaborate with consultants, data scientists, and client stakeholders to deliver end‑to‑end blockchain solutions that enhance transparency, efficiency, and trust in financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop smart contracts using Solidity, Hyperledger Fabric, or Corda to meet client specifications.
- Integrate blockchain platforms with existing enterprise systems, APIs, and databases.
- Conduct feasibility studies, proof‑of‑concepts, and pilot implementations for fintech solutions.
- Ensure security best practices, perform code reviews, and address vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with business analysts to translate financial processes into blockchain workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and interns.
- Stay updated on emerging blockchain trends, standards, and regulatory changes in Malawi and the broader African market.
- Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and client‑facing reports.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in blockchain development languages such as Solidity, Go, or Java.
- Hands‑on experience with Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, consensus mechanisms, and distributed ledger architecture.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for blockchain deployment.
- Ability to write clean, modular, and testable code using version control (Git).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance frameworks in Malawi is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Blockchain Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of professional experience developing blockchain solutions, preferably within the financial services sector. Experience delivering projects for banks, micro‑finance institutions, or fintech startups in Africa will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The annual salary range for this role is SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
