Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Logistics Technology Implementation Specialist to join our dynamic team in Mwanza, Malawi. This pivotal role focuses on deploying, configuring, and optimizing cutting-edge logistics technology platforms across our Malawian operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing digital solutions that enhance supply chain visibility, automate processes, improve data analytics, and elevate customer experience. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of logistics technology solutions, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and real-time tracking platforms.
- Conduct detailed needs assessments with internal stakeholders and clients to define system requirements and implementation scope.
- Configure software applications to align with specific operational workflows and business processes in the Malawian context.
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), to ensure system functionality and reliability.
- Design and deliver tailored training programs for end-users, fostering digital literacy and ensuring effective technology adoption.
- Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing system enhancements based on user feedback.
- Collaborate with global IT teams to ensure local implementations align with corporate standards and security protocols.
- Analyze system performance data to identify optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement in logistics operations.
- Create detailed project documentation, including configuration guides, process maps, and training materials.
- Stay abreast of emerging logistics technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions for the Malawian market.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in implementing and configuring enterprise logistics or supply chain software (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle TMS, Blue Yonder).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to measure implementation success and ROI.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to train and mentor users, creating a culture of technology empowerment.
- Knowledge of API integrations, data migration strategies, and system interoperability.
- Understanding of Malawian and regional logistics regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Chichewa is a significant advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2), Supply Chain (CSCP, SCPro), or specific technology platforms will be highly regarded. Continuous learning in cloud technologies, IoT, and data analytics is expected.
Experience
A minimum of 5-8 years of hands-on experience in technology implementation, preferably within the logistics, supply chain, or transportation sectors. Candidates must demonstrate a successful track record of deploying complex software systems in a business environment. Experience working in a multinational corporation and familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of the Malawian or Southern African logistics market are essential. Prior roles in consulting, business analysis, or systems integration are highly desirable.
