Job Overview
The Enterprise Cloud Solutions Architect will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud‑based solutions for IBM’s enterprise clients in Malawi and the broader Southern African region. This role is pivotal in shaping cloud strategies that enable businesses to modernize their IT landscapes, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate innovation. The successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including sales, consulting, engineering, and support, to deliver end‑to‑end cloud services that align with client objectives and IBM’s standards. Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud solutions on IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
- Collaborate with clients to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and develop migration roadmaps.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept (PoC) initiatives, demonstrating the value of cloud technologies and driving adoption.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, data protection regulations, and IBM governance frameworks.
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation, best‑practice guides, and reference architectures.
- Participate in pre‑sales activities, including solution presentations, RFP responses, and cost estimations.
- Continuously evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend enhancements to IBM’s service portfolio.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and micro‑services design.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Experience with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as IBM Certified Solution Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience designing and delivering enterprise cloud solutions, preferably within a consulting or technology services environment. Prior experience working with large‑scale clients in the banking, telecommunications, or manufacturing sectors in Africa will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
