Job Overview

The AI Ethics Lead will spearhead the development, implementation, and governance of ethical AI frameworks for IBM’s projects in Malawi and the broader Southern African region. Reporting to the Regional AI Ethics Director, the incumbent will collaborate with data scientists, product managers, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to ensure that AI solutions are transparent, fair, and aligned with local regulations and cultural values. Key Responsibilities

Education

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Law, Philosophy, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as IBM AI Ethics Professional, Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, data governance, or related domains. Prior experience in a multinational technology environment and familiarity with African regulatory landscapes will be considered an advantage.

Salary
