Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Asset Management Director will lead the strategic planning, acquisition, and performance optimization of BP Malawi’s renewable energy assets, including solar farms, wind projects, and emerging storage solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive asset management strategy for existing and pipeline renewable projects.
  • Oversee financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting to maximize return on investment.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams including engineering, finance, legal, and operations to ensure project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Monitor asset performance using advanced analytics, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
  • Ensure compliance with Malawian energy regulations, environmental standards, and BP’s internal governance policies.
  • Engage with government agencies, local communities, and stakeholders to foster strong partnerships and secure project permits.
  • Prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership and external investors.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Expertise in renewable energy finance, risk assessment, and asset optimization.
  • Proficiency in data‑driven decision making and performance monitoring tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep understanding of Malawi’s regulatory environment for renewable energy.
  • Fluent communication skills in English; knowledge of Chichewa is an advantage.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or MBA with a focus on energy or sustainability is highly desirable. Professional certifications such as CFA, PMP, or Renewable Energy Professional (REP) are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants must have at least ten years of progressive experience in renewable energy asset management, project finance, or related fields. Prior experience in sub‑Saharan Africa, particularly Malawi or neighboring countries, will be considered a strong asset.

Salary
