The Senior Renewable Energy Policy Analyst will lead the development and implementation of renewable energy policies and frameworks in Malawi. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of Malawi’s renewable energy policies, regulations, and market dynamics.
• Develop policy recommendations to enhance renewable energy deployment, grid integration, and investment climate.
• Engage with government ministries, regulatory bodies, and private sector stakeholders to facilitate policy adoption.
• Prepare policy briefs, white papers, and technical reports for national and international audiences.
• Coordinate multi‑stakeholder workshops, seminars, and capacity‑building sessions.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented policies, providing data‑driven insights for continuous improvement.
• Represent IRENA in national forums, conferences, and regional energy platforms.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and research skills with a focus on energy policy and renewable technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of translating complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in policy modeling tools, data analysis software, and GIS applications.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, NGOs, and private sector partners.
• Project management experience, including budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.

Education

A Master’s degree in Energy Policy, Environmental Science, Economics, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in renewable energy, climate policy, or sustainable development are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in energy policy analysis, renewable energy project development, or related advisory roles. Experience working with government agencies or international development organizations is highly preferred.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
