Job Overview

The Automotive Production Planner will coordinate and optimize the manufacturing schedule for Toyota’s vehicle assembly lines, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality products to dealers and customers across Malawi and neighboring markets. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, order backlog, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of parts and components, minimizing stockouts.
  • Monitor real‑time production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to meet delivery targets.
  • Utilize ERP and advanced planning software to analyze data, generate reports, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to integrate quality checkpoints into the production flow, ensuring compliance with Toyota standards.
  • Lead cross‑functional meetings to align on priorities, resolve issues, and communicate schedule changes to stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of production plans, change orders, and performance metrics for internal audits and external reporting.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in production planning tools (e.g., SAP PP, Oracle Manufacturing, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in data visualization and KPI tracking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as Kaizen, 5S, and Just‑In‑Time production.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Management will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three to five years of hands‑on experience in production planning or scheduling within an automotive or high‑volume manufacturing environment. Experience with Toyota Production System (TPS) or similar lean frameworks is highly advantageous.

Salary
