Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and principled Aviation Safety Compliance Auditor to join our Global Safety, Quality & Compliance team based in Lilongwe. This critical role is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on comprehensive safety and compliance audits of aviation operations, maintenance organizations, supply chain partners, and internal processes to ensure adherence to Malawian (DCA), international (ICAO, EASA, FAA), and Boeing corporate standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a detailed annual audit schedule for assigned aviation entities and processes within Malawi and the surrounding region.
• Conduct thorough on-site and remote audits of airlines, maintenance repair organizations (MROs), ground handlers, and suppliers to assess compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and operational procedures.
• Prepare detailed, factual, and objective audit reports, documenting findings, non-conformities, observations, and recommendations for corrective action.
• Lead closing meetings with auditee management to present findings and agree on corrective action plans and timelines.
• Verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure non-conformities are adequately addressed.
• Maintain expert knowledge of Malawian DCA regulations, ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and Boeing requirements.
• Provide consultative guidance to internal and external stakeholders on compliance matters and best practices in aviation safety.
• Analyze audit data to identify systemic trends and potential risks, reporting these to regional and global safety management.
• Support incident and accident investigations as a subject matter expert on regulatory compliance issues.

• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Chichewa or other local languages is a strong asset.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Safety, or a closely related technical discipline is essential. The role mandates possession of recognized professional certifications, including but not limited to ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ICAO Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) certification, or equivalent aviation audit qualifications. Ongoing professional development in regulatory affairs is expected and supported.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of progressive experience within the aviation industry, specifically in safety, compliance, or quality assurance functions. At least three years must involve direct responsibility for planning and conducting formal compliance audits. Direct experience interacting with the Malawi Department of Civil Aviation or other African national aviation authorities is highly desirable. A proven track record of identifying significant compliance issues and driving effective corrective actions is required.
