Job Overview

The Construction Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA/QC function for all major construction projects undertaken by LafargeHolcim Malawi. Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the role ensures that every project complies with international quality standards, local regulations and client specifications. The manager will develop and implement robust quality management systems, conduct audits, and mentor site teams to foster a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the Quality Assurance Manual aligned with ISO 9001 and industry best practices.
• Lead project‑level QA/QC planning, including inspection and test plans, material certification and non‑conformance management.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and third‑party assessments to verify compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to resolve quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed quality reports, dashboards and performance metrics for senior management and external stakeholders.
• Train and mentor site supervisors, engineers and subcontractors on quality procedures, documentation and continuous improvement techniques.
• Ensure all construction activities adhere to environmental regulations, sustainability guidelines and corporate social responsibility commitments.
• Manage the documentation control system, guaranteeing traceability of all test results, certificates and inspection records.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of construction materials, concrete technology, and cement manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in quality management systems, ISO 9001, and relevant local construction codes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional teams.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with QA software tools.
• Leadership experience with a track record of building high‑performing QA teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or ISO Lead Auditor are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in construction quality assurance, preferably within large‑scale infrastructure or building projects. Experience in the cement or concrete industry, as well as exposure to international standards, will be viewed favorably.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,800,000 to SSP 2,200,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions and other statutory benefits.
