Position Overview

Sunbird Tourism Plc is seeking an experienced Food and Beverage Manager to oversee restaurant operations, banquet services, catering functions, guest satisfaction initiatives, and revenue optimization across its hospitality facilities in Malawi. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to food service teams while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all food and beverage operations across restaurants, bars, lounges, and banquet facilities.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and revenue growth strategies.
  • Monitor food quality, menu performance, and guest satisfaction metrics.
  • Manage supplier relationships and procurement activities.
  • Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste and improve profitability.
  • Supervise chefs, restaurant supervisors, service teams, and catering personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hospitality standards.
  • Coordinate special events, conferences, and VIP functions.
  • Analyze sales trends and prepare operational performance reports.
  • Oversee workforce planning, scheduling, and employee development.
  • Implement customer experience improvement initiatives.
  • Support hotel marketing campaigns and promotional activities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, Tourism Management, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in Food Safety, HACCP, or Hospitality Operations are advantageous.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in food and beverage management.
  • Experience managing large hospitality operations.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant financial management.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and guest relations.
  • Experience with hospitality software and inventory management systems.
