Job Overview

As a Humanitarian Logistics Coordinator, you will manage the end‑to‑end supply chain for food assistance programs in the Mchinji district. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the movement of food, non‑food items, and equipment from central warehouses to field locations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Negotiate contracts with transport providers, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct regular field assessments to identify logistical challenges and propose solutions.
  • Prepare and submit logistics reports, including performance metrics and incident analyses.
  • Provide training and mentorship to local staff on logistics procedures and emergency response protocols.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export procedures in Malawi.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Development, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Humanitarian Logistics Association (HLA) credentials are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of three to five years of experience in logistics coordination, preferably within humanitarian or development contexts. Experience managing multi‑modal transport (road, air, and water) and working with government agencies is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional allowances for field travel and hardship may apply.
