Job Overview
The Network Planning Manager will lead the design, optimization, and expansion of Huawei’s mobile and fixed‑line network solutions across the Mzimba region and beyond. Reporting to the Regional Director of Network Operations, you will be responsible for translating market demand into robust network architectures, ensuring high‑quality service delivery, and aligning projects with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive network planning strategies that align with market forecasts, technology roadmaps, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead feasibility studies, site acquisition, and radio frequency (RF) planning for 4G/5G and broadband deployments.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including engineering, procurement, and finance—to ensure seamless project execution and cost‑effective solutions.
- Perform capacity analysis, traffic modeling, and performance optimization to guarantee superior Quality of Service (QoS) for end‑users.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, cost‑benefit analyses, and project timelines for senior management and stakeholders.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging telecom technologies, standards, and competitive landscape in Malawi and the Southern Africa region.
- Ensure compliance with Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) guidelines and international safety standards.
- Mentor junior planners and provide technical guidance to field teams during rollout phases.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with expertise in RF planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
- Proficiency in network simulation, traffic forecasting, and KPI monitoring.
- Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on innovative, cost‑efficient solutions.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Chichewa is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Huawei Certified Network Expert (HCNE), or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in telecom network planning, design, or optimization, preferably within a multinational environment. Demonstrated track record of managing large‑scale network projects from concept to deployment is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are also part of the total compensation package.
