Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hydro projects, incorporating capital structure, cash flow forecasts, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including technical, legal, and environmental assessments, to support investment decisions.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, pitch decks, and board presentations that articulate risk‑adjusted returns and alignment with ESG criteria.
  • Negotiate term sheets, loan agreements, and financing covenants with lenders, investors, and development agencies.
  • Monitor ongoing project performance, track key financial metrics, and provide variance analysis to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management team to assess credit risk, market risk, and operational risk associated with each transaction.
  • Stay updated on Malawi’s renewable energy policies, tax incentives, and international financing mechanisms to identify new opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory filings and ensure compliance with the Reserve Bank of Malawi and the Energy Regulatory Authority.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel, VBA, and financial software such as Bloomberg or FactSet.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies, project development cycles, and associated cost structures.
  • Negotiation and stakeholder management experience, particularly with international development banks and private equity firms.

Education
