Job Overview

The Senior Academic Program Coordinator will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate programs within the Faculty of Education at the Mzuzu campus. This role is pivotal in ensuring that academic offerings align with national accreditation standards, industry needs, and the university’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with department heads, faculty members, and external stakeholders to develop innovative curricula, oversee program quality assurance, and enhance student learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and revision of curricula for education programs, ensuring relevance and compliance with the Malawi National Curriculum Framework.
• Coordinate program accreditation processes with the Malawi National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and maintain up‑to‑date documentation.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate innovative teaching methodologies, including blended and online learning.
• Monitor and evaluate program performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and student feedback.
• Facilitate faculty workshops and professional development sessions on curriculum design and assessment strategies.
• Manage budget allocations for program resources, including textbooks, software, and laboratory equipment.
• Serve as the primary liaison with industry partners, NGOs, and government agencies to align program outcomes with labor market demands.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and external accreditation bodies.

Required Skills

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Educational Management, or a closely related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in academic program coordination, curriculum design, or related roles within higher education institutions. Experience with accreditation processes and partnership development is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
