Job Overview
The Senior Agricultural Data Analyst will lead the design, development, and implementation of data solutions that transform raw farm data into actionable intelligence for John Deere’s customers and internal stakeholders. This role sits at the intersection of agriculture, technology, and business strategy, enabling data‑driven decision making that enhances crop yields, optimizes input usage, and supports sustainable practices. The analyst will collaborate with agronomists, engineers, product managers, and external partners to build robust analytics pipelines, dashboards, and predictive models tailored to Malawi’s unique farming environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines that ingest, clean, and store data from IoT sensors, satellite imagery, and farmer surveys.
- Design interactive dashboards and visualizations that present key performance indicators for crop health, soil moisture, and equipment utilization.
- Build predictive models to forecast yield, pest outbreaks, and optimal fertilizer application rates.
- Collaborate with agronomy teams to translate analytical insights into practical recommendations for smallholder and commercial farms.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with local regulations and John Deere data standards.
- Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in data science, statistical analysis, and agricultural research.
- Present findings to senior leadership, clients, and external partners, highlighting ROI and sustainability impacts.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of agricultural processes, crop cycles, and precision farming technologies.
- Experience with GIS, remote sensing, and satellite data integration.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Project management skills and a collaborative mindset.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., GIS, Machine Learning) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum five years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or research, with at least two years focused on agricultural data or related domains. Prior experience in a multinational agribusiness environment is an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
