Job Overview
The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing and managing credit risk across Standard Bank Malawi’s loan portfolio. This role involves developing risk models, conducting thorough credit assessments, and providing strategic recommendations to senior management. The successful candidate will contribute to the bank’s risk mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze credit applications and financial statements to assess borrower risk.
- Develop and maintain credit risk models and scoring systems.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risk trends.
- Prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure credit solutions that align with risk appetite.
- Provide training and guidance to junior analysts on credit risk methodologies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical software.
- In-depth knowledge of credit risk frameworks and Basel III regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in credit risk analysis, preferably within a commercial banking environment. Experience with loan portfolio management and risk modeling is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
